Tomorrow will be better if we do something today!

History:

In 1991, the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation, Inc. (TWAF) was formed as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, dedicated to providing ethical environmental education about wildlife and habitat conservation to Texans of all ages.

TWAF is organized exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes, including to foster an appreciation in the young and old, urban and rural, of the biological, aesthetic, recreational, and economic values of native wildlife in its habitat, especially on private propertyTWAF promotes educational, research, and informational activities in support of wildlife, habitat, and the management of the same.

TWAF collaborates with many groups, non-profit organizations and government agencies (such as Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Wildlife Association) who are dedicated to wildlife education.  Through these collaborations, TWAF can focus on the importance of private land in wildlife and habitat conservation.  Almost 97% of Texas is privately-owned.  To truly affect wildlife and habitat management as well as to accurately educate our youth and adults about Texas conservation, we must emphasize wildlife and private land management.

Through these partnerships, TWAF has used its resources to support education initiatives, such as:

  • Conservation Legacy education programs through Learning Across New Dimensions in Science (LANDS) for Youth education, Wildlife Management Education for adult education, and other Special Events;

  • Texas Big Game Awards;

  • Texas Youth Hunting Program;

  • Wildlife Research Grants;

  • Scholarship Programs;

  • Projects of groups with philosophical compatibility;

  • Support of Conservation Initiatives

How to Give

There are many ways in which you can make a lasting impact on the future of environmental education about wildlife and habitat conservation to Texans of all ages.

Annual Gifts

A gift to TWAF demonstrates your belief in our mission and reinforces your commitment to making a difference in wildlife and habitat conservation in Texas.  Many types of gifts allow you to fulfill your charitable intentions and may result in immediate and possible future benefits for you.  TWAF will gladly accept:

  • Gifts of Cash

  • Gifts of Securities

  • Gifts of Life Insurance

  • Life Income Gifts

  • Gifts of equipment, services and other in-kind donations

Due to the complexities involved in some charitable contributions stated above, please contact Pam Fyock, Director of Development, at 800-TEX-WILD to discuss your gift options in more detail.

Don't forget to visit the Estate Planning area of this website for additional information on various gifting strategies.

Memorials & Honoraria

Many donors wish to make a gift in honor or in memory of someone that had a positive influence on their lives. A gift is made to honor someone, to commemorate a special occasion (such as an anniversary or a birthday), or to simply let a person know that you care. Upon receiving your gift, we will send an acknowledgment of your thoughtful expression to the person or family indicated. At no time will we mention the amount of your gift. You will also receive an acknowledgment of your donation, as well as a receipt.

TWAF Endowment Campaign:

The Texas Wildlife Association Foundation, Inc. (TWAF) is seeking to raise an initial $2 million to create an endowment that will help perpetuate its vital educational mission, such as its educational partnerships with the Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) and similar organizations.  By contributing to our Endowment Campaign, you can become an important part of the state’s most successful and sensible conservation effort. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation is ready to receive your tax-deductible contribution.

Campaign Need:

Urbanization in Texas is progressing at a startling rate. As more people become further removed from the land, it is vital that we educate Texans about the conservation and management of wildlife and native habitat on private land, the contributions of landowners and hunters to wildlife and habitat conservation, and the legacy and responsibility of ethical hunting. The Endowment will allow TWAF to expand its education programs in prosperous times and maintain them at high levels during economic downturns.

Campaign Commitments:

The Endowment Steering Committee has committed that:

  • 100 percent of the endowment funds raised will be used to support the educational initiatives of TWAF.

  • No portion of the endowment will be used to support legislative or legal activities.

  • The committee will pursue 100 percent participation in the Endowment Campaign by the TWAF Trustees

  • The committee will also pursue 100 percent participation in the Endowment Campaign by the Trustees of its educational partners, such as TWA.

If you value native wildlife and sensible habitat management on private lands and if you want to preserve Texas’ rural and hunting heritage, please support TWA today.  The future of Texas wildlife depends on you!

Matching Gifts

What's better than a generous gift to the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation? A gift that is twice as generous thanks to a third party's matching gift program!

Many companies offer employees a matching gift benefit that, in effect, doubles (or in many cases even triples) your gift to TWAF. Matching gifts make a critical contribution to the educational programs of the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation.

So when making a gift to the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation, please consider earmarking TWAF for a corporate match. Companies have various methods by which you can submit your matching gift request; online forms, automated phone systems or a paper form that you submit to TWAF. Contact your company's human resources officer or Web site to find out what your options are.
