The Texas Wildlife Association Political Action Committee, TWAPAC, promotes legislation
which helps protect and enhance our cherished lifestyle.
Over the years TWAPAC has been instrumental to our legislative successes. As you know,
most of our efforts in the legislative and regulatory process often face seemingly
impossible odds.
TWA was pivotal in passing the Private Property Rights Protection Act which forces governments in Texas to either pay for their actions or to change those actions. We managed to initiate a liability cap for land stewards who provide recreational access
(including fishing and hunting) to the public. And, perhaps our greatest achievement resulted in amending the Texas Constitution to allow for a wildlife management valuation for property taxes.
These illustrations highlight just a few victories you helped achieve. However, even with this record, we cannot rest. Almost all of our successes remain under constant
attack from the unknowing. Lawsuits threaten many of our in-roads toward fairness to hunters, conservationists, and stewards of wildlife habitat. Bills are filed during every legislative session that would undo everything TWA has built. We must remain fully alert to defeat these misguided actions.
And further, there is still lots more work to be done. Many of our ideas have yet to be implemented and new currents threaten the future of hunting. With your help, we will be able to hold off the bad and expedite the good into beneficial legislation.
For more information about the TWAPAC please contact Kirby Brown at (800) 839-9453.
