What’s new with Conservation Legacy?

The Conservation Legacy team is working hard to provide educational opportunities for Texans of all ages.  Here's a little snapshop of some of our new programs and some upcoming programs

Distance Learning

We have taken some of our most popular live videoconferences and converted them into a clean recording format that teachers and students can watch anytime. With many schools on an asynchronous schedule with students in the classrooom and virtual learners at home, we deicded to make our videoconferences more accessible.  Each program is interactive, includes follow-along worksheets, and can be viewed anytime!  Here are the three newest programs in this format:

All About Alligators

Owl Adaptations

Peregrine Falcons

Since their release in March

and April, these programs have

been viewed by over 5,000 students!

Teacher Workshops

This year our teacher workshops are virtual.  Teachers join us for a 3 hour Zoom workshop where they learn about TWA's programs and are introduced to a collection of our classroom lessons.  After the live session, teachers are required to participate in 3 hours of self directed work where they experience more programs and lessons.

This spring we hosted four virtual teacher workshops for over 60 teachers.  The spring agenda is the same as the Summer 2020 agenda.

This summer we are hosting 33 virtual workshops across Texas.  Teachers who participated last summer can come back this year for a brand new agenda.

Texas Women in the Woods - May 21st (9:00-12:30)

Texas A&M Forest Service is partnering with the Texas Wildlife Association to host a Texas Women in the Woods Virtual Workshop. This free workshop features industry speakers covering topics such as forest health, use of fire on the landscape and soil and water conservation considerations. Join us for an opportunity to network with fellow women landowners from across the state and ask questions to the speakers in a panel discussion.
