Deadline nears for Texas Big Game Awards scholarship applications
New Braunfels, TX — Each year, the Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) accepts applications for the Texas Big Game Awards (TBGA) Wildlife Conservation College Scholarship Program, sponsored by Carter’s Country Outdoor Stores and the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of Texas.
Now in year 35, TWA is offering $25,000 in college scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2026.
Eligible scholarship applicants must major in an agriculture and/or natural resource-related field of study. As determined by residence within the TBGA program’s regional designations, one $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to an applicant residing in each of the eight TBGA regions during a regional awards banquet. The overall top scholarship applicant will receive a $5,000 college scholarship to be awarded at the TWA annual convention held in San Antonio in July.
Any entering college freshman (class of 2026 graduating high school senior), or entering college sophomore or junior is eligible to apply for one of the scholarships. Applications will be reviewed and ranked by a scoring committee using set criteria. Participation in the TBGA is not a requirement for eligibility.
